Try deleting the clientregistry.blob, exit steam first, then delete,

if nothing works take a peak over here. Steam fixes

I know that CSS would crash for me if I had multicore rendering actived in video settings.

It was just a thought, its an easy thing to check, thats all. Unfortuneatly I think this kind of problem can have a multitude of possible causes.

I was having problems with hidden source either crashing or giving an ID ticked error when I first installed it.

The basic ID ticked fix is what Swifty suggested. The more extended ID fix is this:

    1) Navigate to your steam folder,

    2) Exit steam,

    3) Delete everything in the steam folder EXCEPT steam.exe and the steamapps folder (for gods sake dont delete steamapps).

    4) Restart steam and let it download.

If that doesnt help the usual thing to do next is use the steam tools to verify cache and defrag (never fixed anything for me, but you should try)

Once youve tried all that you shoudl then look at your graphics card setup. Check your drivers and update them, check your in-game settings, check you nVidia control pannel. Dont be afraid to set everything back to default, or turning down the settings while your trying to find the problem.

See what background programs are running and try turning off you antivirus and firewalls and resident spy stuff, whatever you have running - you wont be vunerable for the time it takes to test.

You can try to check event viewer for more info on the crash, it doesnt always show up, but if it does you can get info like the exception code or faulting module info and google it. This can often point you in the right direction regarding where the problem is coming from.

    Good luck!!

I think it has to do with sound quality in your sound options in the Windows control panel. Should be lowest quality
